Okay, when I first read this I thought it was the English translator localizing the pun.
In the original, she says "Danbooru?" (Cardboard?).

But it turns out Azuma changed the dialogue between the Dengeki version and the paperback version, and Miura's mom actually does say "Rambo." So it's still funny, but less credit to the translator now.

Roughly translated:

I finally started watching this series tonight.

I was wondering how the English localization would deal with all the "de geso"s. Turns out they just jammed a ton of horrible fish puns into every sentence she says (and also having her randomly use the word "squid" the same way the smurfs say "smurf"). Took me a second to get that one.

Yeah, the first time I saw "inkvade" I was groaning. I got used to it by the end of the first full episode though (first three mini-stories). I actually kind of like it. It's a much better alternative than just translating her lines normally, or translating them normally and tacking "de geso" on to the end.
I watched it in Japanese with subtitles, so that helped ease the pain a little.

I actually had to look up what a gladius was... I had only ever heard the term in reference to a sword.

Overall the show is cute and funny. I just finished the first volume tonight, and am planning to rent the second one tomorrow. Thankfully they didn't do the Japanese style distribution with this series with only a couple of episodes per disc, they did it like a normal TV series with the entire season in just two volumes.

Also, episode 5 made me tear up a little.

I won't say it replaces Yotsuba as my favorite thing ever, but it is definitely a cute series, and Squid Girl has a charming innocence about her that closely resembles Yotsuba's. Like when she's walking around the high school and deducing what each of the rooms must be used for.

I just finished season 2 recently, and while I thoroughly enjoyed it and easily recommend to anyone here, I kind of made the mistake of marathoning it rather quickly. Well, a little bit of Squid Girl goes a long way, and I kind of exhausted myself a bit. Maybe that's just me.
The end of season two is perfect, though, much the same way Nichijou wrapped itself nicely. It even has a line that reminded me of one of the early chapters of Yotsuba (kudos if you know which one).

I knew of the four traditional ones, and I remember the vitreous and aqueous humors from anatomy, but I hadn't ever heard it used as a general term for any bodily fluid.

What kind of cardboard is he made of? Is it the fancy wax-coated stuff? That would probably stand up to the rain a little better.

Is it any secret that he's made of cardboard? Even if he's a robot, he's still a cardboard robot, so it shouldn't be surprising that he gets soggy in water.

During Danbo's first appearance they used the excuse that "he's got a computer inside" to get Yotsuba to stop punching him, so they could go the same route as an explanation for why he can't get wet.
