I've been reading 'The Scarlet Letter' by Nathaniel Hawthorne, and ever since my imagination decided to replace little Pearl with one Yotsuba Koiwai, I can barely read a whole paragraph without cracking up. I'm not quite sure why, but I'm blaming you guys.

>> No.110380

The Scarlet Letter is much improved by the addition of Yotsuba. It would also be improved by ninjas. Yotsuba is superior, however.

I wish I had nice things like Yotsuba or Azumanga back when I had to read Scarlet Letter and Tale of Two Cities.

This thread is now about Azuma's characters in famous literature.

Well, I've said it before and I'll say it again... Sakaki sure seems like a reflection of Holden Caulfield in "Catcher in the Rye." I'm sure if I read it again, I'll be picturing her in that role somehow....

She's not nearly cynical enough.

I'm reading Ray Bradbury lately... no idea how to tie that into the Azuverse.

"It's when the Chiyo Chichi calls you by name..."

"Look, Chiyo-chan... something bright... something pretty!"

"Well, it wasn't Kurosawa or Kimura that found her... This was different. She had fallen asleep in Yukari's class. And Yukari is big and fiery and merciless, and she was always in your face, and you couldn't get away from her."

"It was a pleasure to bite.

It was a special pleasure to see hands eaten, to see girls scratched and maimed..."

"'Oh,' said Chiyo Chichi, closing his eyes, 'I wish I were a bird, I wish I were a bird!'"

There's no doubt that ninjas could improve this book, but only if they slay every single character in it

What a rip that book is

>There's no doubt that ninjas could improve this book, but only if they slay every single character in it, and if they were vikings instead of ninjas

Fixed

>> No.110409

>>110408 Ooh, ooh, when they finish with The Scarlet Letter, can they go hit Gulliver's Travels? My unabashed hatred of that high-school assignment knows absolutely no bounds.

The thought of Daddy Koiwai washed ashore on an island full of Yotsuba Lilliputians would be a riot, though.

>> No.110411

A Seperate Peace is worse than any of the books in this thread, even Yotsuba can't save it.

I loved Gulliver's Travels and all of Jonathan-Swift's work

Save your viking rage for stuff like The Great Gatsby and Tom Sawyer

I just pictured Osaka with a beard. It cannot be un-thought.

I'm with you on "The Great Gatsby" but Mark Twain is underrated. I'm sure he would have appreciated the irony of the fact that it's due in large part to his work being required reading in Public schools.

>> No.110485

Hey, I liked The Great Gatsby, old sports. Though I have no idea how I could ever relate the Azuverse to it
Though I will say half the characters in battle royal looked like AD ones in my head as I read it... T___T

You could imagine your favorite Azu/Yotsuba girl as the girl in "A Medicine for Melancholy."

I liked A Separate Peace . . .

There is a Battle Royal / Azuverse Fan Fiction somewhere - well worth reading if you can find it.

I wonder if Yotsuba could have improved Heart of Darkness for me. That book was nothing more than an excellent sleeping aid.

Try watching the movie instead.

Now I'm imagining Pearl/Yotsuba throwing burrs at Dimmesdale/Yanda.

Chiyo-chichi bless you, /azu/.

Heart of Darkness was a dreadful read. I doubt anything could help that book.

I do wonder if any of the Azu/Yotsuba characters would fit into Hunter S. Thompson's Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas. I can picture Osaka in all her mad acid trips, or maybe even Tomo.

What a bunch of wimps! Classics don't become classics for no reason. If you want something easy to take in, go ask your grandmother for her little bits of wisdom!
