141654 No.112120

If there has already been a thread about this, or art already made, then kindly disregard this thread.

I just bought an Omnibus of the entire Azumanga Daioh manga series, translated by ADV. Yeah, translation's not too good, but I bought it mainly for reference. I'm also a part-time game reviewer, and one of the games we've been mucking around with in the office is TF2.

Pictured beside is one of the drafts I made. It kinda looks like Tomo, you think?

tl;dr: Would /azu/ like it if I drew the Azumanga girls in TF2 classes?

>> No.112122

In this style?

I'd like to see you try!

>> No.112123

It's easy enough. I just have to match each girl to her best class.

If /azu/ has any suggestions, now is the time to say them.

>> No.112126

We actually did have a thread on this -exact topic-. My opinions on the matter were based on personality, particularly from the Meet the <class> videos, but I couldn't think of the answer for everyone.

Heavy -> Kagura
Soldier -> Tomo
Demoman -> Yukari
Engineer -> Yomi
Medic -> Sakaki

Alternatively, you could make Sakaki the heavy, because that would of course immediately prompt Kaori to become a medic in order to follow her around, which is a good setup for an image of the both of them.

>> No.112127

Oh yeah, and thinking on it further now...

Scout -> Chiyo
Spy -> Ayumu

If you do make Sakaki the Heavy and Kaori the medic, then Kagura has to do something and sniper makes as much sense as anything. That just leaves Pyro but you can't even see anything there besides the suit so that class is probably best left out.

<Idea!> Or you could make Rachael Handlebars the Pyro, and show that it is her in there by having her hair outside the suit.

So, that's 2 minor characters, the 6 main girls, a teacher, and all 9 classes.

At least, those are my suggestions anyway.

I second these recomendations, but only if they're all supposed to be on the same team. If in fact they are playing on different teams, then I would suggest keeping Yomi as the engineer, making Tomo the spy, and putting them on opposite teams purely for the dynamic shown in this image, which would reflect both the interaction between engineers and spies in game, and Tomo's tendency to antagonize Yomi.

>> No.112142

That Osaka is a Spy! And she has to be doing either her "The killer is me!" scene or her pulling off the mask and saying "It was me all along!" scene.

>> No.112147

I'd prefer Yomi with the portal gun; I reckon the promise of cake would be quite the incentive.

>> No.112153

Scout - Tomo: She's hyperactive and already shows an affinity for baseball bats
Soldier - Kagura: She strikes me as the one who would really enjoy rocket jumping, to the point of self-destruction as she loses track of how much health she has
Pyro - A secondary character we can nod to. Kaorin or Kimura might work. For Kimura, invoke the scene where's he's dressed in the cat costume.
Demoman - Yukari: She loves fireworks.
Heavy - Yomi: Just so Tomo can make "Heavy" jokes and Yomi can blast her across the map with her Sasha.
Engineer: Toss-up between Chiyo and Sakaki, leaning toward Sakaki if she makes her buildings "cute".
Medic: Toss-up between Chiyo and Sakaki, again. Either way, it'll be funny to watch both Sakaki and Chiyo fall to the predations of Osaka the Spy.
Spy - Osaka: "The killer is me!"
Sniper - Nyamo: Patient vs. Yukari's firecracker assault.

>> No.112154

Kimura is the Medic. Just think it over.

>> No.112155

From her esploits at the summer fair I'd make Sakaki the Sniper.

>> No.112176

OP here. I'll start with Osaka first, since it's pretty much thread consensus that she's the spy.

I'll have to modify the outfit a bit, though. I don't think Osaka would look good in a suit (or would she)?

Looking forward to it.

Just checked those TF2 'introduction' videos again, great stuff. I have no other suggestions than to agree with Yukari for the (hard-drinking) Demoman. I can see Tomo immediately going for the 'Heavy' mini-gun as her weapon of choice, then getting pissed off for not being able to lift the damn thing. Kimura as the medic would also work ("snap" sound of rubber gloves being put on).

Ummm... I'm not a gun expert... or even a novice, but isn't the proper way to hold a gun to let your index finger lie alongside the body of the gun and to pull with the middle finger? Because in these picture's Osaka is using the index finger to pull.

>> No.112505

>>112504
News to me. Besides, decades upon decades of blockbuster cinema have proven that the trigger IS pulled with the index finger, and Hollywood never lies!

>> No.112507

Is not. If you'll fire with middle finger the most probable result will be your index finger getting scratched by the slide, especially with smaller guns. The proper gun handling is having your index finger alongside the gun, rested on the trigger guard (as depicted here), and when you acquire target (and only then) you place the index finger on the trigger and fire.

The >>s are perfectly sufficient for de-confusing conversation; adding names on top adds very little, but opens the floodgates to board politics. Sure, every so often some anonymous might come along and post yotsuba porn, but they're quickly forgotten. Once you have names, though, you have reputations, prejudice, and bluster. It took a person with a name to start a flamewar that was actually memorable.

There's nothing to shout down or sage when half the board agrees with you, or at least thinks the disapproving half is going overboard. Politics.
