This is from when she applies for a summer job at McDon- I mean Magnetron Burger, and the hiring manager questions that she's actually a high school student when she shows him her student ID, since, in his words, "She looks like an grade schooler." He figures she must be from a poor family to have to work at such a young age, and so hires her out of pity.

The whole entirety of the United Kingdom, bar McDonald's marketing department?

I mean, we actually have people named 'McDonald' here, and we don't call them 'Mackie D' either.

>> No.120616

It's Mickie D's, not Mackie D's. But yeah, aside from old 90's era commercials I've never heard anyone actually call it that.

Chavs call McDonald's 'Maccy D's'. BTW, in a thread on /a/ once, someone posted a pic of Tomo wearing a Burberry baseball cap (that'd been shoop'd on). I wonder if anyone here has it to post? If AD was set here in the UK, I can easily imagine Tomo being a brash Manc or Scouse Chavette.

Being a stupid non-brit that I am, I, for some reason, can't.

I can't, and I'm actually from Merseyside. I've known a few local girls who acted like Osaka, though.

>>120743

That's it! Thanx awfully, good sir.

>>120753

Here's how I've figured out the girls' regional dialects if AD was set in the UK:

Chiyo-chan: Cut-glass Home Counties Posh
Tomo: Manc or Scouse Chav.
Yomi: Yorkshire
Kagura: Geordie (Newcastle)
Sakaki: Neutral ('Received Pronunciation', BBC-accent)
Osaka: Brummie (Birmingham)
Kaorin: Timid Welsh

Kimura: Gary Glitter

is shot, beaten, cut, burned etc...

>> No.120826

>>120821

OH GAWDS NOOOO. Brumosaka must be destroyed!

Thankfully, we have recourse to the fact that since Osaka's dialect is so prominent, the equivalent over here would be everyone having south-east accents, perhaps some a little more well-spoken than others, and Osaka alone being...most likely Welsh.

>> No.120827

>>120821 I think I would go with those accents too, more or less. Pity we can't have an 'English' English dub to try it out!

I've heard RP and I think I can imagine the Posh (British royalty style?), and I've at least read some Geordie thanks to Viz (no, not that Viz, the other Viz). As a non-Brit, though, I'm having difficulty hearing the others in my head, and of course, I lack knowledge of the cultural associations. Is there any way to help folks like me understand why you paired them up like that?

>> No.120906

>>120838

I can only suggest you watch the British comedy-drama series "Auf Wiedersehn, Pet" to get an idea of the Geordie accent. I can easily imagine Kagura being a female equivalent of 'Oz' ('Aye, and ah bet she's a canny lass at dorts, mon!'), and Osaka talking like Barry the Brummie. To get an idea of what Yomi would sound like, remember the 'Four Yorkshiremen Sketch' from Monty Python? She'd be the slightly dour, straightforward, no-nonsense type as suggested by folks from that part of the UK.

But would a Yorkshire Yomi wear a flat cap & keep a ferret in her panties?

is shot

Look, Misha...or Misha-imitator...that post was actually kind of funny until you got to the "is shot" part. Can you please wise up about that annoying habit? It's just like the stereotypical bad comedian who follows up every joke with a cymbal crash.
