14359 No.124519

Anyone know where to get the "extended edition" of chapter 48 (Yotsuba & Farm!)? Can't find it anywhere. And while I hate request threads, you're my only hope to get some Yotsuba vs Cow action.

>> No.124520

I think our only hope is somebody scanning the pages out of the tankobon and (hopefully) translating them from moonspeak, because I'm guessing we won't be seeing volume seven in English anytime soon.

>> No.124522

>>124520 Someone already did that, and posted it here on /azu/ some time ago. However, I forgot to save it back then, something that I now regret dearly. But I know someone here has it.

These haven't been uploaded to 4chan.biz or koiwai.biz yet? How odd, I posted them here ages ago.

Well, here they are again (with a minor correction from the previous vesion).

I can't help but find it weird that someone could never have been that close to a cow. Am I... am I a hick?

>> No.124553

>>124552
Nah, cows are pretty common in some areas, but not so common in others (of the US at least). I'm not sure how it is in Japan, but it doesn't surprise me that some people can go forever without passing near a farm. The area Yotsuba lives in is pretty suburban after all (although I get the impression her grandma's house was further out in the country).

Funny story: When my dad worked at a hog farm he and another guy had to put down a sow. So they take her out and shoot her in the head. Not only does the other guy's punk-ass rifle fail to penetrate her skull, but she apparently doesn't quite catch on to the situation, because she's still acting like they're BFF. So they shoot her a couple more spots that should be kill zones but don't do the trick before realizing it's not working. Then they get out the sledgehammer.

...What, am I the only one who thinks that's funny?

>> No.124571

>>124568
did they have chickens on that farm, too?

my dad grew up near one and the owner would put on a show for the kids with old, useless chickens.
he's cut off their heads and let them run around hitting walls and other animals.
now that was a funny

>> No.124572

PETA is full of shit.

they say they protect animals but actually they had quite a bit of animal abuse cases against their supporters.

No, just hogs.

We have a lot of general purpose farms with all sorts of animals on them, but I haven't been on one of those in like forever.

We used to have an emu farm a little way outside of town too, but it shut down. That pissed me off, as they are my favorite ratite.

It was just a hog farm.

I'm not a farmer myself, my dad just worked there for a while. The owner's wife was on the school board, and her son worked there too. Got caught bangin' a sow once.

Yanda's line at the bottom of page 13.
He says つえ~な which is supposted to be 強いな (he's pretty tough) but I originally translated it as "he didn't even fall over" for reasons I can no longer remember.

Similarly, I've discovered several errors in the pretty neighbor chapters I've translated, which doesn't surprise me, but I guess is a good thing since it means I've improved since I originally translated them.

I found another mistake I made on this page (embarrassing, but again a good sign that I'm improving). The only thing I messed up was Yanda's question to Yotsuba, but as a result, the interpretation of her response at the end changes slightly (rather than condescending I think it's more frustration at his lack of understanding).
