I am currently looking for assistants. I've actually been taking applications for a while. I was sure that people with enough enthusiasm would apply even if I didn't actively seek them, but I waited a while and no one came forward, so I've started recruiting.

The job location is in the Nerima-ku section of Tokyo. The assignment length is negotiable, but will probably be 3-10 days. The job hours are basically 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., but that's also negotiable. The work will involve drawing backgrounds, inking in blacks, laying in screentone, etc. I'm not yet a digital artist, by the way; all my original art is analog. I paint and glue it.

Gender doesn't matter. Nor does age, but someone in the 30-35 range would be nice. No previous assistant experience necesary. However...well, this is background-drawing work, so in its own way, you have to be able to draw for it. People who can manage form and perspective are preferred.

Oh man, imagine that... I'm actually looking for a job in that same area, trying to find a place in a drawing/illustration studio for stuff like backgrounds and other things, rather than trying to be a fully independent free-lance illustrator (I tried that, but it didn't take).
Perhaps for the best that I live half a world away and do not speak or read Japanese, making it easier to accept that I wouldn't stand a chance in hell anyway.
Funny, you'd think that art students and other young, budding artists would be flodding someone of his stature with applications, but:

Applications should be sent to the Dengeki Dai-oh Editorial Department. Standard procedure is to send your resume and several samples of background art. Still-life images are good, too. Drawing people isn't a serious consideration, as I'll be handling that. You can even send copies of manga you've drawn. In short, please send us materials that tell us how much you can draw and what kind of person you are.
