It seemed that each volume of Azumanga improved on the preceding one. Like, Volume 2 had Yukari teaching English instead of Spanish like in Volume 1. Volume 3 and 4 had the translator's notes included, which the first two didn't. And Volume 4 used yen for money, instead of dollars like in Vol 1-3.

I have the first couple of volumes of Sunshine (Hidamari) Sketch, which they put out. The quality is pretty good, and I don't really have any problems with the translation. It seems more literal than, say, ADV's work, but it still comes off fine.
One quibble, though, is that they left a couple of Japanese words in when they could have been translated easily. Like leaving the Japanese word for "tapir" in it ("boku"), instead of translating it, or leaving in Miyako's "Okaeri!" and Yuno's "Tadaima!" at one point, even though they never left it like that before or after. Still, I'm confident they'll do a good job with Yotsuba.
