Eye floaters. Clever.

Did you know that they are pieces of old veins that provided blood to your eyes when you were a foetus?

No shit, thats actually pretty cool.

  No.186359

I can't be the only one here who actually used to try to watch those as a kid.

I never got anywhere near into it as Osaka, though.

I ran a red light once and almost T-boned a guy, because I was looking at them.

Plus that was the light on 6th ave and Roosevelt, which the always was a shitty light, changes too fast

How could a hair get into the vitreous humour?

Anyway, what you see is not the object itself, but the shadow it casts on your retina.

Here's an example:

I heard they were just dead skin cells floating in the fluid inside your eyes.

It's all kinds of junk, but mostly the veins you no longer need.
But no skin.

...Hey! I nearly got T-boned at 6th and Roosevelt! You were nearly the vc: deathe of me, you ass!

...Nah, it wasn't me. But I'm suddenly glad you don't live here anymore.

I feel safer.

I still have family there, SEE YOU ON THANKS GIVING!

MUHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

  No.186372

Come to think about it, anime characters must have a hell of a lot of eye floaters.

Why are Azumanga and Yotsuba so funny? Because the huge eyes contain a lot of vitreous humour!

TEH LOL !!!!!1!!uno!!!

Given that my chances of driving anywhere on Thanksgiving are virtually nil, you can drive like a maniac all you want for all I care.

Me, too. In fact, I've been calling them dust particles all these years till now. If you really did see dust particles floating around in your eyes, well, that's a pretty awesome thing to see before your retinas are destroyed (and maybe implode?).
One of things that's happened to me all my life, but never really understood what it was. Much like sleep paralysis, just not as scary.

  No.186422

>>186387
Sleep paralysis is easy to explain. But I am an(unlicensed)ophthalmologist, so it's not my speciality. What I do know is that your body is paralysed while you sleep so you don't act your dreams. And sometimes you wake up before the effect of the neurotransmitters wears off. That's all. Nothing to be scared about.
I am not sure about the name of the active neurotransmitter, but I do know it is available on a variety of synthesised forms. Very useful for some kinds of surgery.

When that first happened to me I thought I was dreaming. No biggie. The second time I knew I was wide awake and couldn't even move my fingers let alone my body. I don't know about you, but that scared me shitless. It feels like you're dead. It didn't help that I was staring directly at my dad on the couch while he was only in his tight-whities.
That happened to me A LOT and it cached me out guard every time.

Is REM what you're thinking? If your REM is disturb while you sleep it can lead to different side effects.
All I know is Osaka didn't have this problem...

  No.186445

>>186424
It's not the paralysis itself that's so bad, it's the auditory and visual hallucinations that tend to accompany it.

  No.186458

Sometimes REM can cause you to stand in the place where you live, and then face north.

  No.186459

I got it a few times when I wasn't getting enough sleep. The first time was probably the scariest, I was laying on my bed and got the sensation that I was being moved. Then when I tried to get up it felt like something was holding my head down to the pillow and I could hear freaky whispers close to my head while this happened. Freaked me the hell out.

I can definitely see Osaka and Chiyo doing that song together. First of all, the lyrics sound like more of her "grains of truth." And it's quite frightening that song came out the same year as AKIRA did.

If you know something about the anime and manga Mushishi you would rather like to think those are the "Mushi".
The concept of the Mushi in the series is related to those things in the eye
