Please forgive me, but I have a non-azumanga anime(sorta) related topic question to ask of you (you guys are the only people I can talk to about this sort of thing).

http://www.1999.co.jp/search_e.asp?Typ1_c=101&scope=0&scope2=0&urikire=1&itkey=tako+luka

I saw an ad for this on pixiv today and I think I have to have one. I need to know two things first though.
1) Is this a reputable site? I can get it from YesAsia as well (I've ordered from them before), but it costs twice as much there.
2) Which face should I get? (please don't say all 3, and please please don't say 3 of each).

Thank you for indulging me.

  No.198649   Report

Actually, after looking at the shipping for Hobby Search, it's about the same price on both sites (possibly more with Hobby Search depending on how much the package weighs) but the question about the faces still stands.

Laughing face.
Black dot eyes just bug me.

Isn't Luka's vocie based on Sakaki's VA's voice?

Also, isn't it funny what can become marketable merchandise in Japan? It all started when somebody sketched Luka's head and thought it looked like an octopis

Ah, that's right.

Okay, now it's Azumanga related.

I'm just waiting for them to come out with this.

Max Factory is making Nendoroids of the various Vocaloid fan characters.

I await the inevitable Figma Haku.

I have no experience with Hobby Search, but I haven't heard bad things about it either. Still you can also get it from Hobby Link Japan: http://hlj.com/product/GSC96060 (says there that it's planned for a November release)

I forgot to say that if I had to make a choice, I would probably pick the one on the left - partly because I like the color of the jar best (pity you can't fit her in there, it seems)

Thanks for the HLJ link. They're charging the same low base price as HobbySearch, but they also offer the lower SAL shipping (whereas HobbySearch only offers EMS shipping).

The drool face would be perfect if it came with a tuna...

Aww, that's sad...

I always feel so sad for Yowane in her original pictures.

She's much happier in the Chibi Miku-san comics!

Hang in there, Yowane, you've got fans!

But I think the smiley one is good.

  No.203461   Report

I'm sure no one cares, but I felt like updating.

I pre-ordered the smile face (with the dot eyes) from HLJ on September 9th, and it just shipped Friday.

I thought you were too manly to play with toys, Ralen?

No, I've got nothing against toys, I just don't buy sexy girl figures.

On the subject of /azu/ but not really azu, do we have an IRC channel?

For some reason, the prospect of meeting fellow /azu/nauts on IRC sounds to me ever creepier than meeting them in real life.

I'm not sure if it's my computer, but I tried doing the IRC thing and could never successful connect, at least for long periods.
I still think we should have an /azu/ Twitter or at least a Facebook.

Try mibbit (http://www.mibbit.com/), that connects via a remote server.

That box is seriously like 70 times bigger than it should. Was it filled with foam and crap?

  No.204015   Report

>>204014
I only used HLJ twice, so I can attest to say yes, half the time it is like half the box is just filled with popcorn.
They still have better shipping costs than any other site located in Japan. Deputy services are just a highway robbery, but you gotta do what you gotta do to get that Kagami bodypillow.

The chain itself was hooked on a small bookmark sized piece of cardboard that had the product information on it (like you might see hanging on a rack at a store). That was in plastic and set against a large piece of corrugated cardboard the same size as the bottom of the box, shrink wrapped, and pressed into the bottom (to keep it from sliding around I guess), and then there was one of those large plastic packing bubbles on top (not like bubble wrap, but the larger air cushion things).

  No.204021   Report

>>204020
That's usually a problem with my bigger figures, the shrink wrap around the cardboard presses along one side and if the handling is rough it leans on the topside and smashes the figure box a bit.
I'd rather they just use bubblewraps.
