What does that translate to in terms of Japanese luck symbolism?

I witnessed an SUV going circles in, out, and around a parking lot to confuse a dog, before crushing it like a ragdoll in between the vehicle's bumper and a steep curb.

Then I found out it was staged, and somehow the dog was actually both unharmed and out-of-sight elsewhere. Its image was actually being used as a holographic stand-in, displaced over that of a skunk.

I'm kicking myself because I forgot to remember to write down my dream. Damn!

It was sort of a nightmare, and it contained either Satan or a discussion about Satan, but the details are gone.

I usually don't remember my dreams anyway.

I descended from a beautiful and vast mountain to the tranquil city below where I visited a bath house (I think simply because I took a wrong turn). The mountain looked european. Dense but welcoming forests, nice and sunny. The city was mostly made of brown stone (in color similar to stone temples of Egypt). Technology was present. Also, I hanged out with my deceased grandfather.

I had a bunch of dreams, but I only remember a few fragments.

One thing I do remember is waking up about 5 times in the middle of the night either during or immediately after a dream, and thinking to myself "That's a lame new year's dream" before going back to sleep and repeating the process.

Well, one of my dreams was at least Azu related. I dreamt I was working on some sort of fan made Azumanga Daioh animation. I was coloring in the cells on my computer using the "Fill" tool, only to come back to those same frames a few seconds later and find someone else had done an insanely better job at coloring them than I had.

No dreams. As usual.

I dreamed I was driving on a flat country road and was running out of gas. There was no gas station around, but I saw a simple metal pole with a giant cow udder stuck on the end. I milked it and gas came out, so I filled up my car and drove on.

I didn't get any sleep between 30. and 31. (some emergency work) and on top of that had too much booze on new year, so i also ended up waking multiple times through the night, hallucinating. I remember having a dream about some giant catfish-like monsters attacking me - i laughed at them saying it's not real because i can see the polygons, then waking up, seeing them in my room and saying "Hey it's real after all! Better get to sleep!" and dozing off again, repeat few times. So no eggplant for me :(

I worked all night on New Year's, so no dream.

I assume I had a dream (or dreams) after going to bed in the morning, but I'll be damned if I remember what they were about. I almost never remember my dreams, and even when I do it's maddeningly vague.

I dreamt that it was the distant future and Batman and Superman were geriatric guest stars on a TV program. They were told to fight each other with Ghostbuster proton packs that shot out mustard (Batman) and ketchup (Superman). During the fight, Batman wouldn't stop saying pointless insults like "I'll get you, Mr. Tall Man", and kept shooting wildly and always missing. Superman would always silently wait for the perfect shot, but given the opportunity to fire, would just stand there doing nothing, pointing his ketchup shooter at Batman. The whole spectacle was filmed before a live studio audience.

I had a dream Chiyo-chan menstruated for the first time. She was in the bathroom of an expensive restaurant with her skirt hiked up, staring at her vagina in a mirror placed on the floor. Yomi walked in and saw her, and then went inside a stall to pee and told her to "keep it less ecchi in here".

I don't remember the dreams I had between the 31st and the 1st :( Last night I dreamt about climbing a tree to escape a tsunami but I guess that doesn't count...

Like a palm tree? Well, glad you made it out ok. The tsunami I usually see have houses floating into the ocean.

Just want to say that this makes me LOL every time I read it; if my dreams were that funny, I'd probably remember more of them. As it was, I slept most of the day on 1/1, but didn't dream anything worth noting.
