It has to be a plot to lure Sakaki into a state of false security. Kamineko is too cunning and too dedicated to just give in like this.

The one on the left looks like she could be in her 40s.

I saw a really good comparison picture once years ago that had a group photo of some average (and below average) looking high school girls, and then on the other side some guy had rendered each and every one of them in sexy anime style. I've never been able to find it again though.

  No.206897   Report

I was in Tokyo not too long ago and I definitely saw cute schoolgirls on the train, even girls with twin tails, which I thought only manga characters wore. Not all the girls there have gone gyaru with the freaky hair and makeup. That's just one style among many (remember there's literally hundreds of thousands of schoolgirls in metro Tokyo).

I don't wanna be cruel, but...
are they for real?

Because they look like someone's eternally unmarried aunts (or even uncles) decided to dress like highschoolers for some reason.

Or like prostitutes trying to appeal to niche market of "not-very-demanding-ephebophile". And we all know what prostitutes like those do to Tomo's police instincts...

They make Tomo want to dress even skankier to attract the "not-very-demanding-ephebophile"!

Possibly. I was thinking there were more girls in the photo though. It's also hard to tell without the anime style half.

Nah, actually they make Tomo arrest everyone's ass. Not even the teachers are safe.

Adult ladies, do not wear highschool uniforms. it's not worth it.

Also, Tomo would satisfy ephebophiles with the most unreasonable of exigencies. All they would need is a cock made of adamantium, because that crazy bitch will break something otherwise.

  No.206924   Report

Now, now--just because we're not going to get any of them, is no reason to say there really aren't any cute Japanese schoolgirls. Where do you think otaku come up with their character designs anyway? From the girls they couldn't get. Remember that people grow up reading manga in Japan--it's normal there to draw someone's caricature or idealized portrait with big eyes. It's not just the otaku who do it.

Haruki Murakami, who is awesome. Azunymous, get thine ass to a bookstore and purchase "The Wind-Up Bird Chronicle". Spectacular book. I envy people like Ralen and Sprocket who can read it in Japanese.

I only wish my skills were that good. Without a Japanese IME and an electronic dictionary I'm fairly useless. I can read through most Yotsuba chapters without help, but the dialogue in those is fairly simple.

I was (and am) a huge fan of Haibane Renmei, and I checked that book out when Abe said it influenced that particular show. I suppose I should think Mr. Abe for introducing me to my favorite living writer.

The well scenes from "Wind-Up Bird Chronicle" are also evident in the well scenes in Haibane Renmei.
