I pretty much agree. I remember watching an old episode of Ojamajo Doremi Sharp where they referred to one of the main characters as "the girl with purple hair", and it felt weird. Like, you're not supposed to acknowledge that.

And in one of the Jungle wa itsumo Hale nochi Guu OVAs one of the characters spoke of "girls who wear wigs that are too obvious because of the colour", and it also felt weird because that particular character has bright and dark red hair.
