That's one of the very, very few times I saw fanart of Wallaby and Kokoro, I like it. Most likely real aquarel paper. If it's not a very elaborate fake you can see it from the dis- colorization from the scanner in the outer edges of the pictures. Paper for watercolor must be pretty coarse to hold the paint without bleeding.

As I recall, Chiyo's a bit taller by the end of the manga, she looked like she wasn't too far away from catching up to Tomo in the final image as they walk off.
