Azumanga Daioh is a little over a decade old. There's almost no forward momentum, other than the Yotsuba and IM translations.

Yeah, there's definitely a lot more activity when there's a new Yotsubato chapter, but it does seem slow aside from that.

I guess there are only so many threads you can have about Yomi's stockings before it gets repetetive.

  No.211273   Report

because I lurk and hardly ever post :|

>I guess there are only so many threads you can have about Yomi's stockings before it creepy.

And that number is one.

Well, we could expand into other slice-of-life series like the art trio, but somehow /sol/ seems wrong somehow... like it should be somewhere else or something

Art Trio?

And I'm not entirely opposed to opening the board's discussion to other similarly themed series. We seem to have a "What other series are like Azumanga?" thread every now and again anyway.

  No.211278   Report

If a Yotsuba anime was announced this place would look like Times Square after the end of WWII.

I wouldn't be necessarily opposed either. It could revitalize the place, though I do worry about being flooded "KONATA IS MY WAIFU" threads or something like that. Ichigo Mashimaro fits because it seems to have a similar fanbase and the manga is on the same schedule. Other series might have the potential to clash.

I can see Anonymous XIV and Vision sucking each others faces off.

You know what, I've been hording a couple doujins of Yotsuba, but I'll get to uploading them - just been busy. Just be aware that they're no where near the perfection of DA HOOTCH's work.

  No.211287   Report

According to Azunymous, /azu/ succumbed to barbarian invasions in large part due to the gradual loss of civic virtue among its citizens. They had become weak, outsourcing their duties to defend their board to barbarian mercenaries, who then became so numerous and ingrained that they were able to take over the chan. Azuns, he believed, had become effeminate, unwilling to live a tougher, "manly" otaku lifestyle. He further blames the degeneracy of Azuma's fanbase and the inactivity of the board's moderators. In addition, Azunymous argued that Yotsubism created a belief that a better life existed through an enjoyment of everything, which fostered an indifference to the mundane among /azu/'s denizens, thus sapping their desire to sacrifice for the board. He also believed its comparative pacifism tended to hamper the traditional Azunian martial spirit. Finally, like other jackasses on the internet, Azunymous held Ichigo Mashimaro with contempt, citing it as bridging the gap between Azuma's works and outright pedophilia. It was not until Azunymous' own age of reason and lawful sexual attraction, it was believed, that human history could resume its progress.

where will you upload them?

We could liven /azu/ more by spreading the joy of Kiyohiko Azuma no a new generation of people and then introduce them to wakachan. Then we could have them trained in the arts of photoshop so they will create more content.

>>211273
I plead guilty to this.

>>211277
True, there are other "slice of life" series out there, like Today, in Class 5-2. But I prefer keeping /azu/ as is, more primary topic focused with the occasional Ichigo thread.

  No.211294   Report

It was through this board I was able to find out about Hidamari Sketch, K-On!, YKK and Sketchbook. I've read the mangas and seen the anime for them. My current favorite manga is Gu-Pan! I hope it gets made into an anime.

When the hell did THAT ever go down? All I remember in regards to IM contempt was that one right wing loon that crawled out from the depths about 5 or 6 months ago.

Wasn't that the troll who said we were all sick because we posted fantasies about having sex with Yotsuba?
I don't really remember him mentioning Ichigo Mashimaro.

  No.211300   Report

damn, I remember 4 or so years ago back when krieg and beck lived and azu was a goddamn zoo with crazy photoshop threads and amusing rp that was NOT 'yukari is free: the cancer within'...

good times.

How about we all agree to blame the current state of /azu on YiF?

  No.211302   Report

We could draw our own Azu doujinshi, but not being Japanese fans, we are lazy.

  No.211303   Report

I blame it on the fact that I no longer have a working PC, which has resulted in me posting less. Those 2-3 posts a year clearly make a huge impression around here.

  No.211304   Report

If you look at the comments on Azu clips on YouTube, it's clear that there are still people discovering the series every month and asking "What's this?" The comments, though, are almost all about how cute and funny the series is, not about how they rub one out to Ass Manga Daioh. Since I have rubbed out more than one that way, I'm not here to troll, but I do think a good percentage of potential new fans wouldn't be into /azu because they're not looking at the show sexually. Believe it or not, there were and are fans of the show who don't masturbate to it, even if, as I said, I'm not one of them.

Is sexuality really that big of a component of /azu/?
Sure it comes up now and again, but I never really thought it was that pervasive. Especially since we keep this a work safe board (specifically for the reasons you mentioned).

  No.211306   Report

How about we move the board to Facebok?
Or at least have a Twitter account.

  No.211307   Report

>>211305

Well, image-wise, /azu is worksafe, but again, the comments, including my own, are frequently sexual in a way that YouTube comments on Azumanga Daioh typically aren't. I bring this up to explain one possible reason why there isn't more activity from new people here; while they might be ready to talk about how Osaka has a cute sneeze, they're not prepared to discuss licking a seat after she rides on it.

we should come up with a convincing Yotsuba anime announcement to test your theory. I best a few good shops and a fake press release in the right places could have a good number of people convinced for quite some time.

I have been dedicating most of my time to a translation project

It's a great learning experience for me as I discover how much of a pain it is to coordinate such a large effort over e-mail alone
