The tvtropes.org Azumanga fanfiction page lists fanfictions considered to be the good ten percent of Sturgeons law.

That's certainly debatable, but I'm going to make an effort to read each one and leave a half-assed review in this thread.

Please note that I'm not touching Yukari is Free

The link to this collection is now dead, but most of us have probably read Kriegsaffe’s edits of Azumanga Daioh and Yotsuba comics. They’re damn hilarious despite his over-reliance on shock (this is the internet, though) and shoddy photo manipulation skills.

These comics stick the Azumanga gals in a dark and immoral world full of Lovecraftian horror, and yet, amazingly, they read like they’re still in character. Kriegs is really good with his creative turn of phrase, and Osaka declaring cancer to be “Satan’s dark and tarry fist beating us up from the inside out” is my favorite line of dialogue in this collection.

There’s some duds in this collection – maybe, if doing a purely quantitative ratio of good to bad, the lackluster comics outweigh the good ones, but the good one are so great that it makes up for it. Read it if you like dark, absurd humor.

I remember when Kriegsaffe used to come around here.

Also, Peter Beck.

Speaking of Peter Beck, I just found this on pixiv today.

Don't really feel like translating it, plus it's probably funnier without a translation.

These short stories attempt to ape the Azu slice-of-life style, with the occasional crossover thrown in. He captures the spirit of the characters well, although not sometimes the letter; his Osaka, for instance, seems a little too dumb at times. His writing could be described as pedestrian.

These short stories are like cotton candy; light, ephemeral, and fun, but no real substance and soon forgotten.

As far as I can understand, none of these seem to make any sense at all.

I have a feeling some of these are relying on pop culture references that I don't get. Like the one on the far right. There's not really any punchline except the expression Tomo's making, so I figure that has to be a reference to something else.

The second from the right makes sense, but it's not very funny. Osaka asks Sakaki what kind of person she'd be into, and Sakaki answers "Someone who shares my love of animals."
But then follows it up with "But only if he's handsome."

I've attempted to restore the Kriegsaffe No. 9 files on my local gallery. I've lost contact with the owner of the previous website and it seems he has no intention of restoring it.

The Windowledge gallery is also hosted on this gallery. I advise anyone with the ability to modify the page header to update the link.
