Was this and the redrawn version of Azumanga ever scanned?

  No.228229   Report

Someone here (I think it was Who me?) had a thread where he kept saying he was going to scan that, but I don't believe he ever did.

I've never seen scans of the revised edition. You might be able to find them on a Japanese fileshare service. Or, you know, buy them. I got mine from Yes Asia.

  No.228231   Report

Okay, Ill just buy them off amazon if I can't find it.

Yup, it was Who Me. He scanned the first few chapters of that, then he kept putting it off until the thread died.

Unfortunately, I didn't save what he did scan, otherwise I would repost it here. Like Ralen was saying, you should be able to find it on a Japanese fileshare.

I have this book. Maybe even an extra copy...

I would scan it, but mine is just a shitty ESPON I got at Target for 40 bucks. I'm not even sure what programs to use if I (likely) had to clean up each page.

When I have a little time later, I can upload the tribute comics that I've translated from the Osaka Expo book.
I only have four:
Aoiki Ume
Barasui
Dowman Sayman
Shinichi Yuhki

These translations are several years old, so they may be kind of clunky-sounding or contain errors.

First up is Aoki Ume.

Barasui.

Dowman Sayman.
This guy also drew a Yotsuba parody that centered around nipples.

And last, Shinichi Yuhki.

When's he gonna start a spin-off series for Kushi-chan?

Of all the joke and pun localizations I did in that one, "Paris Hilton" was actually not one of them.

alright, I got Osaka Banpakku and have began scanning it, starting with the part by Keiichi Arawi because he's a god. Would you be willing to translate this, Ralen?

Here's a basic summary in lieu of a proper translation.

Osaka and Chiyo are looking out the window and see a limousine drive by.
First they see Tomo holding on to the roof and Osaka goes into a lengthy speculation that was probably doing something stupid on top of it, when the driver took off without noticing her.

Then they see Yomi on the back, and Osaka speculates that she was probably trying to get the limo to stop to save Tomo.

The vibrations from the car knock Yomi's glasses off, and then Tomo loses her grip and goes flying. Osaka is horrified to see that Tomo is going to land right on Yomi's glasses.

Then, the class representative from Azumanga volume 1 leaps to the rescue and saves Tomo, also sparing Yomi's glasses. Everyone is relieved as the crisis has been averted.

Final page, Yomi is still clinging to the back of the limo as it drives off.
The last panel is a random note that they say the temperature in Kumagaya broke the record high that day.

  No.229763   Report

Haha, thanks!

Seriously, that is such an arawi style ending where the last line is just "The temperature in Kumagaya broke the record high today" while Yomi is carried away into the city.

Also Arawi loves just using the most minor characters for things, so it's not suprising that Ohyama appeared.

I know I've seen this strip translated somewhere before. This is where Osaka notices that Tomo's growing her hair out, and Tomo remarks that from the back it looks like one of those octopus wieners.

>Watch Azumamnga
>Watch Nichijou
>Think that Nano looks like Osaka and Hakase looks like Chiyo
>Discover Osaka Banpaku
>Nichijou creator Arawii Keichi drew an AZU sketch in his/her art-style
>Feel kinda like something strange thing came full-circle.
  No.230144   Report

I think it did. I remember all those comparisons of Osaka and Nano, but I had no idea the creator of Nichijou drew for the book. That just puts the cap on it.
