How do you make these?

  No.215558   Report

>>215557
I used to make them in High School art class--nothing of this caliber, of course, but I know what they are. You basically use a wooden block with a layer of "rubber" on top (I don't know what it's actually called). The 'rubber' is going to be coated with ink and pressed onto paper, so to make white space, you scoop out the rubber with special bladed handheld tools, and what's left over becomes the inked lines.

It's a lot harder than it sounds, and it's physically taxing because the stuff you have to cut out is softer than the wood, but it's still a solid material, and if you make a mistake anywhere, you either leave it in, or start over. There's also a chance of physical injury, because you're using bladed tools which might slip out and stab someone.

Yes, it's a layer of rubber, and the shavings you leave behind will look like large bits of used eraser. The art of making these things is called Stamp Carving, and this is one of the tools you use (the metal thingies on top of the block are the bladed attachments, obviously).

Everything you can imagine -and some shit you couldn't possibly imagine if you're remotely sane- is a thing somewhere for someone. Actually, scratch that. Not somewhere, but everywhere.
And not a new phenomenon either. Think about the shit the Marquis de Sade wrote and the shit
Caligula did.
The world is and has always been fucked up. The internet just made the fuckedupness clear and evident to us all, and profitable and readily available too.

Man! I LOVE to hate this piece of shit of a world! Seriously, I get a raging hard-on just thinking about its inevitable destruction!

Oh, and here's Osaka. Isn't she the cutest thing?
She's like, cute and random and stuff...

Tools for torture. Gangsters all over the world use them.
The ereveta is like a long, thin, flat, inflexible needle with a small hook on one end. You insert it into the victim and use the hook to grab a nerve which you can then twist or pull out. You can get a guy to confess crimes that only happened in fiction with that one. A simple but admirable tool. Cannot be used correctly by just anyone.

The escareta is less elegant. It's basically a metallic contraption strapped around your chest connected to your mouth and nose through a tube. Like weird metallic vest with a hose and an oxygen mask.
Every time you inhale, the vest gets tighter. When you exhale, nothing happens.
Take a good whiff and your heart, lungs and bones are crushed like a car being compacted in a scrapyard. Usually the victim realizes in a few seconds that breathing is not an option, but the medulla oblongata never listens to reason. In my opinion, it is a barbaric device that serves no real purpose. If you want to execute someone and think his or her last minutes should be nothing but pain and fear, you use an escareta.

A case of parallel thinking, I assure you. I have only seen one of the Saw films (the first sequel, I think) and I've been told the rest are just as bad.
The medulla oblongata has always fascinated me. We don't have conscious control over it, which is good, but strange if you think about it as just a part of the brain. It is a safety mechanism; but that is precisely what makes it useful as a torture device: We just can't tell it what to do. All safety mechanisms are faulty.
My brother and I used to draw, just for fun, torture devises. I came up with a blade that approaches the victim as he or she breathes, cutting vertically from between the legs up. We imagined the victim would first hold his or her breath to a point of absolute despair. The fear itself would make the holding of the breath tremendously hard, not to mention a futile exercise that only would serve to prolong the agony.

Sigh... kids...
Am I right?

  No.216460   Report

Actually, I'd say Saw 2 was easily the worst of them. The rest actually have character development, but there was none of that in the 2nd one.

I would actually expect you would enjoy the rest of the films, considering your interest in bizarre torture scenarios.

I was really intrigued by the premise of the first one before it came out. I liked it, but thought it kind of fell apart near the end. I thought the surprise ending was great though, and I had enough interest to see the sequel.
The 2nd one had absolutely no character development, and I thought it was awful.
Then the story picked back up in the 3rd one, as it had more story through flashbacks and tried to tie a lot of the characters' plots together.
I ended up making it a tradition to see the new Saw movie on opening night every year. This will be the first year since 2004 that there hasn't been one.

I'm not sure what all Takashi Miike has done. I saw Audition and Ichi the Killer. They were okay, I guess. I guess they didn't really make much of a lasting impression on me. In fact, I hardly remember anything about Ichi the Killer except that guy with the split mouth, and the killer with the heel blades.

Even a lot of "good" people love the idea of tortures being inflicted on people, judging by news response threads whenever someone is convicted of a crime. These may be cases where the criminal has done something sick and evil, but that doesn't make the people responding healthy and good.

The first time I saw pages from it, it really upset me. It was just one of those things that really got to me, like the first time I read Nana's Everyday Life.
I'm desensitized to that doujin now, but it's still not really my bag.

  No.216515   Report

>>216513

>So are you a fan of the Drifting Classroom doujin?

No. Actually, I'm not. I just posted that for the joke. I am a misanthropic person with an unhealthy fixation for torture and murder and pain; but I can't stand the suffering of the innocent in real life, and sometimes I can't even stand it in fiction. I feel pretty much like Ralen, down to his comment on Nana's Everyday Life. I haven't read that and I'm not gonna do it.

I dislike Battle Royale and even Celebrity Deathmatch, but I love gore and violence. If a work of fiction presents the person being gutted as guilty of an atrocious crime or a soldier who knows what he's getting into or even a huge asshole, I may enjoy it; but if the victims are being forced against their will to fight or are being hunted by a maniac on an island he owns, or were randomly kidnapped and tossed into a torture chamber, I just find that depressing.

Sure, I have a huge Silence Of The Lambs poster over my bed; but my favourite manga is Yotsuba. Currently I'm watching Breaking Bad and reading Fairy Oak.

Anyone else want to motor-boat Osaka's butt in this pic?

  No.216521   Report

What I was talking about wasn't so much the vicarious thrill of misfortune in the news (as in the Don Henley and Tool songs) but the active wish for certain people to be tortured, as long as they "deserve it." In other words, I was questioning the idea that healthy people want to see tortures inflicted on people, even if those people are criminals themselves.

It's like the mentality that used to go to the Roman Coliseum or public executions--"they're bad people, but I'm still a good person, even if a part of me is enjoying seeing the same kind of violence they committed." This is why civilized countries get rid of torture and executions, to affirm that the actions themselves are immoral, and do not magically become moral just because the state instead of the criminal performs the actions.

The real problem is the lust for the suffering of others. Maybe that's a part of human nature and can't be gotten rid of, but finding reasons, categories, to justify it in reality..."it's OK for me to enjoy THAT person suffering,"...that seems questionable to me.

Now, take Mizuhara-san. She has a slight lust for the suffering of others, when it comes to spicy croquettes. On the other hand, according to this dojinshi here, she gives generously of her auxillary inputs to the boys in class. I can say without hesitation that she's a very good person.

See, the thing about Osaka is that whatever mental condition she may or may not have, she's charming. Somebody with, say, Aspergers with no particular charm about them--why would you like them, any more than you'd like a normal person with no charm? Osaka is popular not because she's strange or different, but because whatever she is, she's likable.

Also, I think the "if Lucky Star were real life" strip would have been more effective if they'd remembered to also adjust Konata's appearance, to something more out of Princess Jellyfish.

Are there seriously animes of all 20 of those series? I guess that explains the dates. Oh, this is one of those stomach punching fetish things, isn't it?

Is there actually any sex in it, or is it just stomach punching? (don't really care to read it myself, just curious).

I've dated a woman that wanted me to choke her while making out.
Fucking nasty bitches.

there is an actual fetish about this? And I thought nothing about Japan can surprise me. No sex, just punching. No real gore either, seems he is gonna make a second volume of cutting her and torturing her because a panel showed him preparing various knives and other instruments.
Damn, the Japs are truly effed up. or maybe they are just more honest.

This doujin looks like something I would expect to read off a police report, not some guy's fap folder. I usually don't judge when it comes to eroge, but I'm judging real fucking hard now. This shit is for fucking evil sadists, man.

As someone who has Osaka as their waifu, I feel very strong, negative emotions regarding this awful horrid doujin.

But my darker side wants to see what happens to her in the next installment, with the knives and such.

What is wrong with me? I love Osaka but I can't help want to see her tortured and in terrible pain.

I think it's that I want to rescue her from her peril and be thr white knight and escort her to a hospital by carrying her in my arms.

  No.224537   Report

I think it's a powerment thing. Seeing someone so powerless, even fearful of you is kind of a turn on for me.
But then I would rescue Osaka from her crystal castle! (or was it prison?)

For most normal dialogue I use Anime Ace 2.0, but sometimes I also use Digital Strip or CC Wild Words (that last one is a pay font though).

I'm also curious as to the context of this edit.
